FE #3 Language learning
in CESL, we have a lot of different international students. There are Chinese, Koreans, Japanese, Arabs, Mexicans and so on. So we speak different languages, but we can communicate in English, because we study English in CESL. And everyone has their own accent when they speak English. So at first, when I came to SIU, it was very hard for me to understand other country's people speaking English. But time will resolve the problem. You need more listening and speaking. Don't be shy, and don't worry about your grammar, just speak and speak. Therefore, one day you can surprise by yourself. Your English unwittingly improved very much. And you should watch more TV and movies in English

The crisis in the Abalone
According to Michael Wines’ article “Poachers’ Way of Life is Endangering the Abalone’s,” people’s continuing to demand makes abalone decrease and in some places it is becoming extinct. First of all, some people are very poor, so they poach abalone to keep their life. And many smugglers sell the abalone to another country to get more benefits. Second, abalone poachers are increasing more and threaten the abalone’s extinction. And this situation also influences the environment. Third, to satisfy the market demand, it is important start to let poachers pluck abalones. Abalone is very delicious to eat and it has a lot of nutritional qualities, also it is good for health. Therefore many people like to eat abalone. In conclusion, because of people’s wrong behavior, abalone has decreased. Abalone is important for people’s lives. We must protect species and take care of abalones.
It is apparent that the author’s report is right in this article. That is true. I agree with the author’s opinion. Now the way of life has become destroyed from people’s hand. We must attack smugglers and not let poachers harm the abalones. We should protect them. People like to eat abalones but they never think about the future; they are just eager to catch delicious food. Even though abalone is a valuable sea mollusk for people’s lives, the available supply has begun to shrink. According to G. Tyler Miller “One important potentially renewable resource is biodiversity, which consists of the numerous forms of life that can best survive the multitude of conditions currently found on earth.” Biodiversity includes species diversity; variety among the species found in different habitats of the planet. We should take stern measures to protect abalones.
First of all, the government has deployed police and marine forces to strengthen against the poachers. The marine and coastal management agency must step up its enforcement efforts with the purchase of cigarette-style skiffs that can outrun any poacher’s boat. And the police should severe punishment on poachers and smugglers. Let allow make smugglers and poachers unable to do it anymore. And teach them how to protect the abalone and let them realize how important abalone is for our lives. Also, we can see much jewelry made with abalone. They sell it in the markets and shopping malls. Even though abalone jewelry is very pretty, this is a kind of harm to the abalone.
Next, the government should built the special place to let abalone live, like an aquarium. Abalone is a sea mollusk that lives along the coast. Their shells are shaped in the form of a spiral and have a lining of mother-of-pearl inside. The facilities would be suitable for the abalones. And put the special manager to manage the abalones. The manager must have a lot of knowledge about the abalones. They should give them nutritious food, makes them grow up faster and stronger.
Finally, the government should make more strict rules for the people plucking the abalone. They should put the wire into some special parts of the sea to prevent people from plucking abalone, or make a boundary and not allow boats over the boundary. In Australia, they have a rule about abalone. People who are plucking the abalone cannot take OXRB into the water. They must breathe out of the water. This can prevent people from plucking many abalones. This rule in Australia is a good effort. Other countries should study Australia.
In conclusion, people should conserve our abalone for future generations. I do not want our later generations to sit in front of computers everyday. They should enjoy delicious abalones. So from now on we must protect abalones and prevent abalone’s extinction. Make our earth be better and more perfect.

journal question #2
Before I had boyfriend but we broke up almost 10 months ago. So I am single now. But I am very satisfied with my life now. It is freedom. I don’t want to say about my ex-boyfriend. Because that is not a good memory for me. In my country, usually in the school we met boyfriend and girlfriend. Because we everyday study together. So we know each others hobby and life style. The boys are usually active. If they like a girl, they try their best to pursuit. Buy rose for girls or make a special event for them. And take care of them very carefully. After the girls accept the courtship they become a couple. And then they begin to dating. Everything they do together. Dating in the restaurant, bar, park and cinema. Also, everyday they talk with cell-phone. And they travel what place they both like and have a fun. If they want to confirm their relationship, they take boyfriend and girlfriend to their home and visit their parents. This is a sense of they will get married.

journal question #1 my break time in caldwell's house
During the break time I got a good memory from Caldwell’s house. On Thursday, Caldwell invited EAP2 students and EAP2 student’s culture partner to her home to get dinner together. Everybody made special food to her home. I made Chinese food; Guobaorou, Korean students made Bulgogi, Arabian students made Capsa, Japanese students made Sushi, American students made cake and Caldwell prepared some fruit and salad. I like Caldwell’s house, it is very beautiful. In the back courtyard has big swimming poor. We ate with culture partner and talk about something interested thing. Because of different culture we learned many new things from them. And also take the picture together. We had a good time, I enjoyed it so much.
FE #2 Travel
I traveled to Chicago during last Thanksgiving break and traveled to New York in this year's winter vacation. I went to Chicago with my classmates. We drove a car for almost 5 hours and arrived in Chicago's downtown. Chicago's downtown is very pretty. In the night it is prettier than days,because of the lights. Downtown has a big bridge which can open in the middle when a big ship goes through this river. The next day we went to the Sears Tower, a building which is very high; people can view Chicago downtown's whole scenery, but we didn't see anything that day, because that day the city was full of fog. So I want to tell you if you want to travel to Chicago, you should go in summer. And there is a famous museum downtown; you should visit it. Also, there is a big shopping mall called Chicago Avenue. And there are many delicious food restaurants downtown. I ate the pasta in Cheese cake factory restaurat; that was very delicious. In New York, you should visit Manhattan; it is an amazing view.

Animals “hit by global warming”
According to Tim Hirsch’s article，“Animals ‘hit by global warming’,” the UK government reported that the temperature change makes animals move to another place and hard for them to live. First of all, he states that the melting ice and spreading deserts make birds and animals move to another place. The birds fly east in the winter; chaffs move in the south. Next, bears and seals’ home ground is disappearing very quickly, because of melting of Arctic sea ice. Finally, the temperature change makes many problems, for example; increasing storminess, rising sea level, warming seas, growing water scarceness and spreading Sahara desert. In conclusion, the author states that if this situation continues for a long time, the animals have no place to migrate anymore. So the government must solve this problem immediately.
It is apparent that the author’s report is right in this article. That is true. I agree with the author’s opinion. We have many environmental problems in each country. This problem makes global warming and then influences the other things. One of the things affected by the problems is the animals. Now many of the animals are dying because of the climate change. Although they can move to another place, many animals cannot adapt to a new place. So we must think about a new thing that can take care of the animals and protect them. Animals are very important for people’s lives.
First of all, the government should adopt a new measure. Let animals live better and more comfortably. Also people showed make concerted efforts. We should make artificial zoos. The facilities would be very similar to the animal’s home land, with respect to the interior temperature and environment. Put the special manager to manage the zoo. The manager must have a lot of knowledge about the animals and environment. They should know how to treat the animals when the animals get illness. And always research the environment to make it suitable for the animals. This measure can make many animals safe.
Second, people should protect the environment. As much as possible, do not pollute the environment, because people’s environmental problem directly influences the animals. All of the garbage from the people. Is thrown anywhere. They throw it in the lake, throw it in the river. And the river moves into the ocean. The ocean becomes polluted. Every country’s ocean is connected. Therefore, if one country has big pollution with their ocean, this will influence all of the oceans in the world. So every country should pay attention to these problems and obey the rules about the oceans.
Third, the government should make new and more rules about environmental problems. That is because treating global warming is among the most important of all modern environmental problems. They should not allow the factory to polluted without a filter. And they should make a new car that does not use the gas, uses the natural energy, and still the car can run. Create a new festival, in which all the people plant a tree on that day. It is very easy to do it. Every person can do it. Trees can prevent spreading deserts. So we can keep more areas for animals to live.
In conclusion, we must save the animals from the bad situation. Because of bad environmental problems, the animals are struggling. Therefore, it is necessary that government can solve this problem. There is nothing that can defeat us if people made up their mind. Making concerted efforts give us big power. We should solve the environmental problem together. It is not individual problems. I believe people can save the animals.

FE #1 travel by car
I would like to travel by car. Because in a car you can have a freedom, not like a plane. In the plane you must take a seat belt and sit down for a long time. Also you can not see anything outside. But if you take a car to travel, you can see everything outside. If you travel with your friend, you can talk about something interesting and have fun. you can listen to music together and sing a song together. You can stop anytime to go outside to get a breath of fresh air, take a break and smoke. Also you can buy food on the street level if you are hungry, for example: at McDonald's, KFC, Starbucks and Burger King. That is why I prefer to travel by car.
